Working at a community health center is a unique experience. Being a member of the CHS team offers many benefits, to staff members and patients alike, that comes from being part of an organization offering a complete range of services to each member of the family. Our staff enjoys an unparalleled level of collegial support, drawing on the broad and varied experience and expertise of their peers to assist in addressing patient concerns.

The scope of services provided by the health center is enhanced by the varied backgrounds and training of our professional and support staff, and the ease of access to internal referrals for specialty services. Patients can expect continuity of care between specialties and across the age spectrum which other healthcare organizations cannot provide. A diabetic patient can receive their eye care and foot care in the same department as they receive their primary care; a new mother and her baby both benefit from the close collaboration between the obstetrician and pediatrician before, during and after the baby’s birth.

Unlike a private practice or a hospital clinic, CHS is able to take the necessary time with our patients. Our community-centered model of care, all under one roof, is more efficient and thus saves time for the patient and conserves resources for the healthcare system. As a federally qualified health center, CHS provides care to the medically underserved, which often translates into patients with complex medical problems. This presents a challenging and constant learning environment for our providers, who must constantly ensure that their knowledge base includes the cutting edge of medical treatment.

At CHS, Our mission is the driving force behind what we do. We provide vital services not only to our patients, but to our community. We believe that high quality healthcare is something everyone deserves, not just those who can afford it. CHS employs 110 staff members, and our diversity reflects that of the community we serve. Our staff represents over 15 nationalities and ethnic backgrounds and speaks over 10 languages. A third of our staff lives in Hartford and is actively involved in a variety of community groups and activities. We are looking for highly skilled individuals who take pride in their performance no matter the role. But more than that, we are looking for team players who know how to support their co-workers, ask questions, share ideas and above all - keep their sense of humor.
