No one should ever have to choose between going to the doctor and going to the grocery store. Sadly, this is a choice facing many uninsured families in Hartford and throughout Connecticut. For those with little or no income, or those who can not afford the cost of premiums even if insurance is offered at their place of employment, the cost of healthcare can be astronomical. Often, no health insurance means no healthcare, as many people in need are turned away if they are unable to pay their medical expenses out of pocket. At CHS, the quality of your care is never determined by the size of your bankbook. We accept most insurances including Medicaid and Medicare. For those patients without insurance, the health center works with you based on your ability to pay taking into consideration the income and family size of each individual or family. Our fees are on a sliding scale, so you pay what you realistically can afford. We’ll also help you determine if you qualify for any insurance benefits.
