Vision care is critical, especially since it can reveal problems such as diabetes –- a disease that can be devastating to both adults and children. CHS’ Vision Care program, launched in November, 2004, treats the whole family. Every Thursday, our certified Optometrist sees patients by appointment for general eye care. We refer cases needing specific expertise to specialists.

In May, 2007 CHS will offer prescription eyeglasses for our patients. With an average turnaround time of a little over a day, our patients can receive their glasses much faster than the usual week they would wait at least for their prescription glasses. Our patients who are uninsured or underinsured will have the opportunity to receive prescription eyeglasses for free (prescription lens & frames). CHS will also give the patient the option of upgrading their frames, at their discretion. In this case, CHS will pay the initial $20 and the patient will be billed for the difference.
