Community Health Services, Inc. is searching for a detail-oriented, self-starting individual for the Billing Specialist opportunity!


Come join a fun team with a supportive and high-energy culture with professionals passionate about revenue cycle management! The Billing Specialist generates revenue by making paying arrangements, collecting accounts, monitoring and pursing delinquent accounts.

The successful candidate will:
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Two (2) years of billing/coding experience in a healthcare setting

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Extensive experience managing claims via an electronic practice management system

  • Prepare and submit electronic claims to various insurance companies and invoices for grant submissions, resolving any internal system edits, clearinghouse claim errors, and insurance claim edits

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of outgoing claims for reimbursement by reviewing CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding submitted by providers and applying any applicable modifiers

  • Update, as needed, patient demographics and payer information within the practice management system

  • Evaluate denials of payment to determine most appropriate strategy for resolving claims

  • Research and maintain familiarity with billing guidelines as established by third-party payers and grant contracts; create and maintain access to insurance portals including continuing to seek reimbursement from the payer through research of payer guidelines or writing off to department guidelines.

  • Assist patients in person or over the telephone with their outstanding balances, co-payments, fee agreements, and sliding fee arrangements

  • Research and coordinate resolution of patient concerns regarding their accounts, including collaborating with clinical staff, as needed

  • Act as a liaison for the front desk and clinical staff as it relates to the practice management system and/or payer payment guidelines

  • Meet weekly, monthly and quarterly report deadlines

  • Participate in quality and process improvement efforts in the department and the organization as requested or as directed

  • Complete training and professional development requirements in a timely manner

  • Perform all duties in accordance with CHS Core Values, Compliance Program, and other policies and procedures
