Martiza Angulo de Gonzalez, EdD, LCSW

 

Dr. Angulo de Gonzalez is the Director of Behavioral Health and is a bilingual, bicultural licensed clinical social worker with a doctorate in counseling. She received her Bachelors in Psychology from College of New Rochelle, her Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and her Doctorate in Education from Argosy University.

Dr. Angulo de Gonzalez's approach to therapy draws heavily from psychodynamic, holistic and strengths focused orientation. However, she holds firm that the relationship between client and therapist is the most important and sacred aspect of therapy. She also integrates intensive and extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into her work. She believes strongly in the biopsychosocial model of treatment that emphasizes that every person is a unique individual and maintains a strong interest in the integration of psychotherapy and spirituality.

Dr. Angulo de Gonzalez has a particular clinical interest in alcohol and substance abuse, anxiety, positive psychology, self-esteem, self-harm, depression and trauma, domestic violence issues and chronic mental illness.  She has accumulated a broad range of experiences having worked in inpatient, outpatient, intensive outpatient and emergency room-psychiatric, community, and residential settings, doing assessments as well as individual and group therapy.
