Community Health Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Director, Information Technology.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the IT Director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions.   The IT Director manages resources to support and maintain existing applications and leads the development of new technical solutions to meet organizational needs. 

Since 1970, Community Health Services has existed to provide comprehensive health care services to the residents of Hartford and Windsor. The successful candidate will:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and 5-10 years’ experience in Management Information Systems, OR an Associate Degree with 10+ years’ experience in Management Information Systems

  • Prior experience working in the IT department of a healthcare organization, meaningful leadership experience is strongly preferred

  • A proven track record for starting and completing projects using sound project management methodologies. 

  • Significant current experience in engineering, installation, and administration of networking and security infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of strategies for identifying and eliminating security vulnerabilities, including HIPAA Security Rule, risk assessment and risk mitigation principles.

  • Demonstrated success overseeing a Windows Client Server environment, MS SQL Server environment, Help desk, cloud-based applications and services (Office 365), and mission critical applications such as electronic health records.   

  • Superior ability to direct and prioritize the work load of IT department personnel in the midst of competing priorities, effectively bridging barriers, while maintaining an attitude of service and collaboration with internal customers and stakeholders. 

  • Prior success leading the selection and implementation of new technology while ensuring the maintenance of existing technologies.

  • Skill in analyzing business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommending technical solutions.

  • Facility with collecting, analyzing, and communicating data related to system effectiveness and efficiency and comfort making defensible, evidence-based decisions

  • Superior ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders about technical and non-technical matters

  • Experience exercising balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent and equitable manner.

  • A resourceful, problem-solving attitude and the willingness to be accountable

  • The willingness and ability to perform other related duties as assigned, including assuming other leadership duties as directed by the Chief Financial Officer

  • Alignment with the organizational mission and demonstration of Core Values and Permission to Play Values

  • Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Professional (PMP), Security, Microsoft, and\or security framework adoption (NIST, ISO, SANS) certifications are a plus
