Community Health Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist as its Manager of Infection Control and Prevention.  Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer and in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), other Senior Management Team members and clinical leaders, provides oversight for all infection control and prevention activities at the health center, including but not limited to surveillance, data collection, monitoring of communicable disease and exposure trends, reporting of communicable diseases in accordance with regulatory requirements, development and regular review/revision of infection control related policies and procedures, and ongoing identification of relevant training needs, resulting in development and implementation of annual and periodic infection control training programs.  This is a benefit-eligible 32-hour per week position.

The successful candidate will:
  • One of the following

    • a valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license with a BSN preferred

    • a Masters in Public Health

    • A Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or epidemiology

  • At least 3 years’ experience coordinating infection control and prevention activities in a clinical or public health setting; experience in the acute care or ambulatory care environment strongly preferred

  • Deep knowledge of evidence-based standards (e.g. CDC, APIC, SHEA, WHO) as well as regulatory standards (HRSA, TJC, OSHA, DPH) and have experience developing and revising infection control-related policies and procedures consistent with those standards

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and infection control work plans and establishing specific and measurable achievement goals for priority focus areas

  • Demonstrated success developing and presenting educational sessions

  • Formal project facilitation training or commensurate experience

  • Demonstrated success conducting appropriate investigation and analysis of actual or potential infection-related exposures and/or outbreaks

  • Experience and knowledge sufficient to oversee instrument reprocessing functions

  • Prior experience providing support to the Infection Control Committee

  • The ability to develop and successfully execute short-, mid-, and long-term enterprise-wide strategic goals

  • Superior communication skills and have demonstrated success building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with clinical and administrative staff, patients, and external partners and stakeholders

  • An aptitude for collecting, analyzing and making strategic decisions based on data and presenting the process and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders

  • The ability to maintain composure and respond calmly and effectively in stressful situations

  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Comfort working with electronic health record systems

  • The willingness to be accountable and to hold others accountable

  • A high level of alignment with the organizational mission

  • CIC Certification is strongly preferred for this role.
