Community Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for our Behavioral Health Department to provides psychiatric services for consistent with the cognitive, psychosocial, and physiological needs of clients. Our Behavioral Health department offers a variety of individual and group counseling, MAT, and medication management services to children, adolescents, and adults. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner functions as a core member of a collaborative care team that involves the patient’s clinician and primary care provider. Eligible individuals may qualify for loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps program.
The successful candidate will:

Possess valid State of Connecticut licensure as an APRN and have or be eligible to obtain DEA and State controlled substance permit

Have an in-depth knowledge of professional nurse practitioner theory and care to give and evaluate patients

Exhibit skill in prescribing and managing appropriate psychotropic medications

Have experience examining, diagnosing, and treating clients with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse disorders

Have experience performing basic risk assessments and engaging in treatment planning

Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills with internal and external clients, family members, agencies and other stakeholders.

Have a desire to be a continuous learner through ongoing professional development and training

Have a solid record of providing high-quality, comprehensive care with a compassionate bedside manner and a professional demeanor

Thrive in collaborative environments, working seamlessly with other providers and members of our care teams

Have experience providing, or be willing and able to provide, culturally competent care to a socioeconomically, ethnically, and linguistically diverse patient population in a collaborative environment

Have a track record of proven success communicating effectively with patients, peers, and other stakeholders both orally and in writing

Be a stickler for timely, thorough and accurate clinical documentation

Be able to make evidence-based clinical decisions and comply with department and organizational quality measures

Be proficient using electronic health record and other computer systems

Possess a resourceful, problem-solving attitude and an appropriate level of accountability

Be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants who are bilingual in English and Spanish and applicants with prior experience working with underserved populations are strongly preferred.
